Jacques DAMEZ (b. 1959, Lyon) Self-portrait (?), 1983. B&W gelatin-silver print, vertical contact sheet format: 5 successive views, interior, seated nude man, draped and veiled background. Printed November 27, 1983. Numbered n°2 Signed, numbered and captioned on the back, with the words "tiré le 27 Novembre 1983 par mes soins" ("printed November 27, 1983 by myself"). Dimensions: 62 x 23 cm (unframed) To be compared with the two works by Jacques Damez entitled Portrait (1983), gelatine-silver prints, 40.6 × 79.5 cm each, in the collection of the Musée national d'art moderne / Centre de création industrielle, Centre Pompidou, Paris, inventory numbers AM 1988-1055 and AM 1988-1056, purchased by the French State in 1983, the same year as the present print, and attributed to the MNAM in 1988. These two works share the same formal vocabulary: contact sheet, interior photograph, living room, B&W. The present print is dated a few days after these two works.
