José Maria Sert (1874-1945) José MARIA SERT (1874-1945) Atlantes Suite of two charcoal and white chalk on tracing paper 34 x 25 cm and 31 x 25 cm Spanish painter and photographer, he moved to Paris in 1899 and realized at the request of Samue Bing the decoration of the dining room of the Art Nouveau Pavilion for the World Fair of 1900. A specialist in mural painting, he created decorations for the aristocracy's hotels, for the Barcelona City Hall, the great council room of the League of Nations, the lounge of the Wendel Hotel, now preserved in the Carnavalet Museum, as well as the Titans decoration of the Rockfeller Center, to which these drawings can be compared.
